Ever since we were kids our mothers would tell us to eat properly. A balanced diet of the major food groups is essential for our bodies to perform at their peak. Pregnant women not only have to think of themselves but also the child they are carrying. They have to remember that everything they eat directly affects their baby. Thus, the woman is eating not only for themselves, but the fact is, that they are eating for two.

Proper nutrition is essential for the mother and the baby

There is medical evidence that proves that properly eating for two will result in a healthier baby. A woman who actually eats properly before becoming pregnant still might have to change her diet because she is now eating for two.

Golden rules for eating for two

One is to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water. Proper hydration is important. It helps the mother’s skin, and also can aid in the discomforts of being pregnant. (Stomach and bowel issues). Eat a lot of grains, vegetables, and fruit. Protein is important as well, but protein foods can contain more fat, so that should be taken in consideration. Eating for two is not always an easy thing to do. Many women experience nausea and tend to skip meals. A better idea is to eat more frequently but eat less. This may help if she tends to get nauseous after eating a big meal.
